Ride METRO to Jury Duty!
Being summoned for jury duty can be stressful, especially when it comes to navigating downtown traffic and hunting for a parking spot.
While METRO can’t help you get out of jury duty, we can help you get there without the headache!
METRO offers free rides to Harris County jurors on local bus, METRORail, Park & Ride, curb2curb and METRORapid on the date of the summons. Just show your summons to the operator and catch a smooth, hassle-free ride!
Kingwood resident and long-time METRO rider Ray Upton was summoned to jury duty earlier this year. Instead of worrying about where to pay for parking, he hopped on the Kingwood Park & Ride and headed downtown.
“There’s no fighting traffic. There’s no looking for a parking space. There’s no running late. You can just get on the bus and ride,” Upton said. “It’s just a very stress-free way to travel.”
If you are not selected for jury duty, you may ask for a jury pass to return home. The pass will be date-stamped and must be presented to the bus operator or fare inspector.
If you are selected for jury duty, ask for a jury pass, stamped with a “valid through” date.
“There’s no easier way to get downtown for jury duty than taking METRO,” Upton said. “Whether it be on the Park & Ride or METRORail, whatever is convenient. It’s clean, it’s safe, it’s reliable, the operators are friendly. I wouldn’t have chosen any other way.”
