Public Hearings & Notices

METRO often holds public hearings seeking feedback about proposed service changes and more. All meetings are held in-person at 1900 Main Street and accessible via remote video conference. If you’d like to make a public comment, we suggest you register as a speaker at least 48 hours before the meeting. Just send an email to BoardOffice@RideMETRO.org or call 713-739-4834. We’ll need your name, address and telephone number.

By preregistering, your comments will be heard first at the public hearing. Otherwise, you’ll have the option to provide comments after the preregistered speakers. Upcoming public hearings will be posted below.

Public Hearings

All public hearings conform to requirements described in the Federal Transit Administration’s Circular 9030.1E, published January 16, 2014, page VI-7. METRO is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, its transit services on the basis of race, color, or national origin, as protected by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.


The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO) is holding a public hearing to receive public comments on its State Performance Audit for Fiscal Years 2020 through 2023 and METRO management responses. The public hearing will be held:

Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 12:00 p.m. (noon)
METRO Boardroom, Second Floor

Houston, Texas 77002

The public is invited to attend the hearing and provide comments in person. You may also join the hearing on Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81007989871 or by dialing 346-248-7799 or 888-475-4499 (toll free), Meeting ID: 810 0798 9871. Participation on Zoom is only necessary if you want to provide comments during the public hearing. Otherwise, you may view a livestream of the public hearing. A copy of the State Performance Audit and METRO management responses will be available beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025 [[NOTE: confirm date]] for public review online and in the lobby of the METRO RideStore in the Lee P. Brown METRO Administration Building, located at 1900 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002.

Process For Providing Public Comments

It is recommended that anyone wanting to make public comments register as a public speaker with METRO’s Board Office at least 48 hours in advance of the hearing by calling 713-739-4834 or sending an email to BoardOffice@RideMETRO.org, and providing their name, address and telephone number. If you pre-register, your comments will be heard first at the public hearing. Your name will be called at the appropriate time for you to make your comments.

Alternatively, you may provide public comments after the pre-registered speakers by raising your hand when called upon if you are present in the Board Room, by selecting the “Raise Hand” feature on the Zoom platform online, or by pressing *9 if joining by telephone. Those calling in will automatically be placed on mute. After an unregistered speaker’s name or number is recognized, their microphone will be unmuted and they will be able to provide their comments.

The public may also provide comments by calling or texting the METRO Customer Contact Center at 713-635-4000 in advance of the public hearing.

On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) METRO held a public hearing to receive comments on its proposed January 2025 changes to METRO service.

Language Assistance

Upon request, METRO provides free language assistance to help patrons who have a limited ability to read, write, speak, or understand English. This is in accordance with METRO’s language assistance plan.

Please call 713-739-4018 or email METROPublicAffairs@RideMETRO.org to request language assistance or other accommodations at least 48 hours in advance of the hearing.

Persons with Disabilities

For individuals with special needs, we can provide assistive services and/or copies of public documents in an alternate format.

Individuals with impairments may call 713-750-4271 a minimum of five (5) working days prior to the public hearing.
